Gaining Experience in Nonprofit Management and Governance 

The Board Fellows Program offers two exceptional area undergraduate students the opportunity to serve as ex-officio (non-voting) members on the World Affairs Council of Jacksonville’s Board of Directors for a one-year term.

Board Fellows work closely with the Board of Directors and Council staff, attend board meetings and Council programs, serve on committees and gain firsthand experience in community service and stewardship. Additionally, Board Fellows are provided professional networking opportunities with Jacksonville’s business and philanthropic leaders and special access to premier Council offerings.



Expectations of Board Fellows

  • Serve one year Board term
  • Attend a minimum of three board meetings a year and join a Committee
  • Attend Council programs (e.g. Global Issues Evenings, Global Business luncheons, Annual Member Celebration)
  • Have access to reliable transportation
  • Invite peers to attend/join Council offerings
  • Provide a reflective learning statement/assessment at the end of the term

Eligibility Requirements

  • GPA of 3.0 (or higher)
  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • Junior or Senior status during the Academic Year 2021-2022

    • Leadership qualities and potential
    • Career aspirations
    • Other qualities that demonstrate you are an exceptional candidate and would make a great addition to Board Fellows Program
