Simon Rabinovitch

About the Speaker

Simon Rabinovitch is US Economics Editor of The Economist, based in Washington, DC since late 2021. He previously served as a correspondent in China for more than a decade, with The Economist, The Financial Times and Reuters, reporting on finance and economics. He is the author of two special reports on the Chinese economy: “The global centre” and “Big but brittle”. The winner of a Society of Publishers in Asia award for coverage of China, Simon’s commentary has appeared on the BBC and NPR. He also had a brief stint as a table-tennis reporter during the Beijing Olympics in 2008. Outside of journalism, Simon has served as National Secretary for the Rhodes Scholarships for China. He has a BA from McGill University in Montreal and an MPhil from the University of Oxford.
